How to Create Pages in WordPress?

In this chapter, we will study how to add pages in WordPress. Adding a page is similar to adding a post in the WordPress. Pages are static content and often do not change its displayed information in wordpress.

The following are simple steps for adding pages to WordPress.

Step (1) - Click on the page menu → Add new as shown in the following screenshot.

Step (2) - You will find the editor page viewed in the following screenshot. The editor page has two tabs in WordPress, views and text. You can also insert text in any of these tabs. Here, we will study about inserting text in visual format.

Fields are given details on the edit page of Ed New Page.

Title

It is used to write the title of the article, which is then displayed on the page.

Permalink shows the potential URL for the page below the title in WordPress. The URL is generated according to the given title.

WYSIWYG Editor

This is a WordPress WYSIWYG editor, which is similar to a word processor interface where you can edit the contents of the article.

The following are the options of the WYSIWYG editor -

Bold Button - Your font is used to bold.

Italic - Used to italicize fonts.

Word Strike - Strike through Content.

Bullet list - Adds bullets to the content.

Number list - Adds numbers to the list of content.

Blockquote - Coat the text.

Horizontal Line - Creates a horizontal line between the sentences.

Left align - sets content on the left side of the page.

Align right - sets content on the right side of the page.

Appropriate - justifies the content of the page.

Add Link - Adds a link to your content When you click on this button, the following page is displayed.

The following fields are present in the Insert / Edit link page.

URL - Enter the URL you want to link.

Link Text - Enter the text you want to enter in the link.

Open links in a new window / tab - Open your link page in a new tab or window. Check the box as needed.

Link to an existing account - Select the page from the given list, link to an existing content page. When you click on an existing page, you get a link in the URL section as seen in the following screenshots.

Remove link - Removes special link added for text or content.

Read more tags - Read more tags on your page.

Toolbar toggle - Clicking on it gives you another list of toolbars as shown in the following image.

Paragraphs - Selects the headings as needed for the lessons from the dropdown.

Underline - Underlines Sentences.

Appropriate - justifies its content.

Text Color - sets the color for words or sentences.

Paste as text - pastes your text.

Clear formatting - Deletes selected content.

Special character - Inserts the necessary special characters in your content.

Increase Indent - Increases Indent of the Page.

Decreasing indent - decreases the indent of the page.

Undo - The most recent editing reverses the command.

Redo - unlocks undo, the most recent editing restores the command.

Page Properties

The Page Features module allows you to select parents for your particular page. You can also determine the order of the pages.

Parent - Allows you to choose a parent page.

Order - Sets order of the page.
